Horrible customer service experience yesterday. My Sorento was there for the engine failure recall after it died on my wife on her way home from work one day. Once we got it to the dealership, it sat there for weeks before a new/remanufactured engine could be shipped in and installed. When I finally picked it up, the check engine light was on and the air conditioner was not blowing cold air. I called them and explained the problems and they told me to bring it back and they'd take a look. They called me back and told me that the check engine light was fixed but that the A.C. was not fixed because it was not related to the engine being swapped out and it must have a leak. They then proceeded to tell me that they would gladly recharge it for $200+. Seemed awfully convenient that my A.C. worked when I dropped my car off and then go to pick it up and it doesn't anymore. They said it had nothing to do with the engine swap out. I said that I would take it home and have my mechanic look at it. They handed me my keys and said that'll be $85. I asked for what. They said for running a diagnostic on the A.C. Well...I already knew it didn't work and was only inquiring as to if it was related to the engine being swapped out and if that could have caused any A.C. problems. They at no time advised me that there would be a charge for the work done. I politely asked for the $85 be refunded to me since I was not notified in advance that there would be a fee for any work done. My only original request was that I need to know why my check engine light was on and that the A.C. no longer blows cold air and was that associated with the engine swap. There was no love from this dealership. They have successfully driven me into the arms of another brand and dealership.
